Artist Statement
My practice is grounded in explorations of familial connection, interpersonal relationships, and the emotional landscapes that emerge within shared histories.
Recent work has focused on how memory, intimacy, and the quiet tensions within family dynamics shape personal identity. Through photography, painting, and mixed media, the artworks reflect intimate moments and narratives, often beginning with personal documentation or conversation before translating these experiences into layered visual forms.
My work moves between tenderness and complexity, capturing how emotion lingers between people and across generations. I invite viewers to consider their own relational experiences and the emotional undercurrents that define family, belonging, and connection.
Teaching Philosophy
Morals and virtues have a direct impact on the growth and wellbeing of their students. It’s also the responsibility of the teacher to build on a student’s prior knowledge of a subject to facilitate each student reaching their full and individual potential.
An effective teacher is a virtuous teacher. A virtuous teacher leaves their own convictions at the door before they enter the classroom and shares knowledge with their students without it being clouded by their preconceived opinion. According to Aristotle “It’s our choice of good and evil that determines our character, not our opinion of good or evil.” It is possible to teach students virtue. To encourage a climate of respect of others in the classroom, the teacher must first model the traits of a virtuous person and establish a foundation of trust and good moral judgement to nurture a sense of pride and belonging for students.
